Designer Korto Momolu to Produce Poolside Fashion Show at the
Tom Joyner’s 2010 Fantastic Voyage™ Cruise
Washington, DC – Tom Joyner, host of the Tom Joyner Morning Show®, is gearing up for the 11th Annual Fantastic Voyage™. The “Ultimate Party with a Purpose®” will set sail from Miami, May 16th – May 23rd, with a jam-packed line-up of musical acts, comedians, seminars, a black art auction and fun-filled Caribbean excursions.
Korto Momolu, celebrity fashion designer and finalist from Emmy-nominated Project Runway, who was recently featured as a guest on “The Mo’Nique Show”, has been tapped to provide this year’s fashion with a purpose. The poolside fashion show will include some never before seen fashions and accessories by the designer dubbed by NY magazine as “the one to watch.” Additionally, Korto will be a guest panelist to discuss the dynamics of “Black Beauty” in the fashion industry, and how a designer views the images of black women in our culture and community.
“It’s very humbling to be a part of an event that puts an emphasis on providing scholarships to students to help them attend HBCU’s,” states Momolu. “It’s so important to make sure that the dreams of our youth are not hindered by financial obstacles.”
More than 30 acts, including Maze, featuring Frankie Beverly; Ron Isley; Kid & Play; Charlie Wilson; KEM; Chuck Brown and Doug E Fresh, will participate in a major fundraiser for the Tom Joyner Foundation. More than a decade old, the organization’s primary mission is to provide scholarships to support students in their enrollment at black colleges/universities. The cruise will include something for everyone from R&B, gospel, funk, jazz, old school hip hop, comedy, fashion, literary panels, sports activities, beach parties and more.
