Saving Our Sisters from HIV/AIDS Health Summit — Saturday, March 13th

24 Feb
My friends at DIVAS MPH are sponsoring this fantastic, life changing event. If you are a woman or girl aged 13-29, or know of ladies in that fit that age group, please encourage them to register. If I remember correctly, they are also looking for female mentors to assist in their efforts.
GET INVOLVED
—–
Attend a HIV/AIDS 101 Training on Saturday, February 27th so that you are knowledgeable should the girls have any questions after the event. The training will be take place from 10am – 1pm @ Gap Buster Learning Center — 6200 Sheridan St. Riverdale, MD 20737.

If you are interested in serving as a Peer Leader, please send an email to sos@divasmph.org.  Also, please feel free to recruit some of your friends, family, and colleagues to serve as Peer Leaders.  Sometimes prevention can be as simple as having someone to share your concerns with. We owe it to our young girls to serve as mentors/role models when it comes to their sexual health and HIV prevention.
Intelligent, Beautiful, Energetic, Outgoing, Youthful, and HIV Positive – These words describe too many young women and girls living in the Washington Metropolitan area.  HIV is a PREVENTABLE disease and YOU have the power to protect yourself from becoming infected.

REGISTER TODAY for the March 13th event!

In the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, young heterosexual women are the fastest growing population of newly diagnosed HIV cases.  As young women, we have a RESPONSIBILITY to educate ourselves, our mothers, sisters, friends, daughters, partners, and significant others on how we can PROTECT ourselves from HIV infection.  We are asking young women and girls, ages 13-29, to join Divas, MPH as we EDUCATE, EMPOWER, and MOBILIZE to Save Our Sisters from HIV/AIDS.
The S.O.S. Summit will include age appropriate workshops on HIV/AIDS 101, Assertive Communication Skills, Negotiation Skills, and conclude with a Town Hall Meeting to address the issue of HIV/AIDS, its impact on women and girls, and what we can do as individuals and a community to reduce the number of new HIV infections in women and girls.
Please see attached flyer for details.  Register Today @ www.soshealthsummit.com. We encourage you to spread the word about this event.
