Going Ballistic \:Part 1

18 Jan

This is more of an instructional note than a blog post. For the culminating activity of my Golden Birthday Weekend, the trip to the Maryland Small Arms Range (www.msar.com) at 9311 Old Marlboro Pike in Upper Marlboro. In order to make this outing as smooth as possible, here are a few pieces of information to help your planning.

The range expects today to be very busy, particularly with it being a federal holiday. MSAR does not take ‘reservations’ and everyone will be served on a first come, first served basis.

The range allows two people per lane and today is Ladies Day. The lane fee for unescorted females will be waived. Men will have to pay for their lane rental. Women that share a lane with a man will have to pay for lane time.

Gun Rental is approximately six dollars. (IF you have your own firearm, you may bring it.) There are a full selection of firearms to rent. the knowledgeable staff will be more than able to help you . You will also need to purchase rounds to fire your weapon with. A box of 50 rounds is approximately $30. {If this seems like a lot of rounds, considering splitting it with someone who is using a compatible weapon.}  Targets are about a dollar each as well.

WHAT YOU MAY WANT TO BRING IF YOU HAVE IT

PROTECTIVE EYE WEAR
HEAVY DUTY EAR COVERINGS ~ something substantial to protect your ears from damage. The range is very loud.

DON’T LOOK TOO CUTE
Ladies, consider wearing sensible shoes. The shoe should be able help brace you from the kickback of firing the weapon. Be comfortable.
Cover your cleavage. For the purpose of time, I’m being brief for time. But seriously shell casings may fly back into your chest area when firing. Cover up the girls and don’t worry about that.
You may also want to consider a long sleeve shirt.

OTHER NOTABLE PIECES OF INFORMATION
If you have allergies, please bring all relevant medicines to remedy your outbreaks. Just a precaution.

Thanks to the folks that passed on more info on the do’s and don’ts of the range. I expect we’ll have a good time. More details to come.

I expect to be there as close to 2pm as possible, although I’ve been running about an hour and a half behind on all Golden Weekend activities. LOL>
