Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Fiesta Latina

FIESTA LATINA AT THE WHITE HOUSE

Alright, I’m about 30 days late in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, but on the last Friday night of the month, I happened to catch a PBS special recapping Fiesta Latina at the White House.

President Obama and the First Family welcomed Latinos in music, arts and politics to celebrate the culture. George Lopez, Eva Longoria-Parker and Jimmy Smits hosted for the evening.

Other attendees included Marc Anthony and his wife Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, international sensation Thalia, and Los Lobos. If you don’t know who they are, look ’em up.

While the celebration of Hispanic music brought other entertainment heavyweights as Marc Anthony and Jeninfer Lopez, Los Lobos, Thalia  and Pete Escovedo to the White House, the evening’s standing ovation went to the newest member of the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic member of the high court. My personal highlight of the evening was a performance of Shelia E and her father Pete Escovedo. While of course I couldn’t find a copy of the 1 video I wanted of the night, below is video of the night’s grand finale.

Everybody get up and dance! You got soul. Move your feet!

If you check the video, about 45 seconds in, when Prez sits back down, First Lady does not eye contact. Everybody thought she was a little hot about this one.   Can the brother catch a break?
